This guy hates bikes!

Christ what an asshole. Since they are giving subsidies to people who purchase new cars, they need to do the same for cyclists. Thanks Bike Denton!

Where's my 40 acres and a mule?

Interesting post on Jezebel. I am not sure I fit the definition of a "ginger" truly, but I have been called that. I am not really sure why people think that it is appropriate to make comments of a sexual nature when talking about my hair. Because really, um, it's not.

Not like anything is happening in that area.

I heart Shepard Fairey

OMG OMG OMG!!

I want to make this. Which reminds me. Game day at my parents is today. Tortilla soup, Risk, Stratego, Trivial Pursuit? I am in heaven.

Midnight at the Modern.

This picture does not show this guy's pride in his hat. He was really happy with his purchase.

This was one of the Olafur Elliason sculptures that made me want to puke. I had to leave immediately. I asked one of the docents if this made other people puke. English wasn't her first language and we had this conversation where she never really answered my question, but she was super-friendly. Then another docent came in and saw that a child's handprints were on a sculpture. After that, docent one gave me the cold shoulder as if I was guilty. Boo!

We only did this because we saw a five-year old do it.

The best part of the evening was trying to teach Greg how to polka, and explain that there are two polka stances; "I want to know you better" and the "creepy uncle."

The docents at the DMA are a huge contrast to the MOMA's wtfever attitude. Two of the sculptures made me want to puke and I didn't get to see the King Tut exhibit, as it was spendy. One day, maybe.

Star Wars as told by someone who has not seen it.

This reminds me, I need to watch these again, because this isn't far off from my recollection.

Bike lane that travels with you?

This is the greatest idea ever.

Safe Passing Bill Returns

Safe Passing Bill Returns

This bill not only protects cyclists, but also pedestrians. It essentially says that motorists need to give three feet of clearance when passing. Maybe this is good considering that I wear a helmet.

Kittens of the Sea

Sea Kittens

My favorite part of this article: “But Byrne says that even if people lose jobs in the fishing industry through the success of the campaign, they could find work in more sea-kitten-friendly environments.

"So as there is less of a demand for foods like fish, there is more of a demand for other foods, and jobs open up in those industries," Byrne says.”

Even when I was a vegetarian I hated PETA so much. They make vegetarians look like vapid, shallow airheads without much concern for humans (and I don't need their help perpetuating that stereotype, I can do it on my own, thanks). I want to know what the “sea kitten friendly environments” are that Alaskans should be working in? Also I love that those eleven year olds see right through this horse shit.

This is the sole reason I want to go back to NY

http://www.9to5themusical.com/
I am hardly kidding.

New stuff at work.

We just got a ton of good stuff at work: The Man Factory, the new (ish?) Pinebox Serenade, Wordy Shipmates on Audiobook and Murakami's book about running also on Audiobook.

Weekend pictures

Bowling with a new buddy. I seem to gravitate to non-Texans, I have no idea why.

I finally got around to playing my new games that I got for Christmas. Wii Music is so fun it is ridiculous. I may need to have a game night very soon.

I touched a Grammy at Katey's 40th birthday. Adam and I were the only ones who seemed excited by this, but screw those other people. I feel like "I touched your Grammy" deserves an LOL cats or something.

Mac likes the new car. Oh yeah, I got a new car. It is totally weird and foreign to me.

If you see this at the Greenbelt, it is time for you to leave. Crappy Iphone doesn't do the moon justice. I would rather have gone to the show at Dan's, but the moon was pretty.

Ravelins.

This was just about all I listened to this weekend.

Thank you, Chris for introducing me to the Magic Numbers. I thought it was funny to get my pup to dance with me, since he has the short legs.

Books I am so excited about.

I dated a guy that has kids and I used to think to myself that everything that is wrong with them is due to the fact that they never watched Sesame Street. I know that is an asshole thing to say, but Disney just does not cut it. When I have kids, there will be no cable in the household.
That said, I couldn't find the cover of Street Gang the Complete History of Sesame Street anywhere on the Internet. It came in to work and I put it on hold immediately. Hearing Diane Rhem's interview with the author has only made me all the more antsy for it.
The next book I am looking forward to is How to Live: A Search for Wisdom from Old People , you know, for obvious reasons.
I am currently reading Iphone: the Missing Manual (already out of date!) and Best Non Required Reading 2008 and still Kafka on the Shore (though I am kind of waning on that one a little, even though I love Murakami).

Did I blog this already? I got the Onyx Edition of Scrabble, but what I really wanted was this:
